Great news! We now make a 1-1/4" diameter version of the tachometer
and speedometer mount for those fat Custom handlebars.
All other details are the same as the 1".
|
|
|
| |
This mount is specifically designed to work with 1" diameter handlebars
and the Mini-Tachometer and Mini-Speedometer sold by many different vendors.

to see the physical dimensions for both Tacho and Speedo)
We no longer sell the Tachometers and Speedometers. |

Our CUSTOM option at NO EXTRA COST
If you do not have a Honda VLX600 but
would still like the tach to line up with the face of the speedometer it should be possible by
ordering our Custom option Part# TMCAM (or TMCBC).
Rest a measuring square across the face of the speedometer and record the measurement at the centerline of the
handlebars. This measurement is parallel to the face of the speedometer.
Include this measurement in the Messages section of the shopping cart and we will calculate how long to
make the spacer tube and bolt for the tachometer to line up with the speedometer face based on the measurement
you have supplied.
NOTE!
On some motorcycles the face of speedometer may
be backward of the handlebar centerline. Please be sure to mention the position of the speedometer face, forward
or backward of the handlebar centerline
In the picture above, the speedometer face is shown
as Forward of the handlebar centerline. |

|
| |
Because we no longer sell the tachometers, here are the
dimensions of the tachometer body and mounting hole position. |
| |
When you order Part#
TMCAM (or TMCBC) online, use the Additional comments for your order... section of the Shopping
Cart to include that measurement and we will
use that to calculate how long the spacer tube needs to be.
We will cut an extender-tube to that length and provide
a stainless steel acorn nut and stainless steel threaded rod of the correct length for
YOUR setup at NO EXTRA CHARGE!! |

BUT IT GETS EVEN BETTER |

Using two of the short mounts you can mount the Mini-Speedometer and the
Mini-Tachometer for a really trick look. To use this dual mount system on a NON-VLX600, it requires
3-3/8" between the inner faces of the risers.
If your risers are closer than this then the mounts will have to go on the outboard side of the risers.
Mounts only part# TMSAM - you will need 2
WE ALSO HAVE THE SPEEDOMETER IN WHITE FACE
(while stocks last)
The speedometer drive ratio is 2240:60 and this means
that 2240 rpm of
the drive cable will display 60 MPH |

USING OUR 2002 VLX600 TEST BED...
For the VLX600 guys, we suggest using ONLY the
short mount for both Speedometer and Tachometer as the long mounts cannot be positioned successfully
for the stock Speedometer cable.
I don't have a VLX600, so will it fit my stock
Speedometer cable??
Well, Yes, No, Maybe. The Mini-Speedometer measures 3" from the face to the outer-end of the M12 cable thread.
As you can see from the first pic at the top of this page, the face of the Mini-Speedometer or Min-Tachometer is
about in line with the top of the Short mount clamp. This puts the centerline of the handlebar about 5/8"
behind the face. So using a quick bit of math...
3" - 5/8" = 2-3/8"
What this means is that the outer-end of the M12 cable thread will be around 2-3/8" below the centerline of
the handlebar. If your stock cable will comfortably reach to that then Yes it will work fine.
You need to make sure that the forks drop down to their
full extension AND the stock cable is not pulling tight on the back of the Speedometer. |

Good Vibrations...
|
|
These bikes vibrate really freely so a thread lock agent
is not a luxury, it should be mandatory every time you assemble things on any Motorcycle.
This bottle will last for a long time considering it only
takes a drop on the threads to make it stick. We can't tell you how many drops there are in the bottle, but it
MUST be a LOT!!
We stock the Red and Blue
thread lock.
(Actual threadlock supplied may differ from items
shown here)
|
Red
is the strongest and if applied correctly, it requires about 250+ degree heat to loosen. We have had success using
a hair dryer for this purpose when disassembling. A paint
stripping
heat gun could also be used,
BUT
great care must be exercised so you DO NOT DAMAGE paint
in the same area, as these guns can get to 900 degrees
and more. |
| Blue
is for frequently disassembled parts and only requires normal tools and a little extra pressure to loosen. Often
though oil and water can degrade the locking strength a little and that's why we also offer the Red
as it has a much stronger grip, but requires more effort to remove it when you need to. |
