The
Stainless Steel set screw is at the bottom when this is installed and it is completely out of sight. The only time it might be visible, you really don't want to think about.
Sure, we could have hidden it under the rubber
rings but that causes two problems.
1: The
material is quite thin and would only give about 3mm of thread engagement and THAT is just plain poor Engineering.
NOT our style at all.
2:
You would probably scratch it levering the rubber rings back on. We use a special installation jig as the rings
are tough and don't like stretching very much. |

Good Vibrations...
|
|
These bikes vibrate really freely so a thread lock agent
is not a luxury, it should be mandatory every time you assemble things on any Motorcycle.
This bottle will last for a long time considering it only
takes a drop on the threads to make it stick. We can't tell you how many drops there are in the bottle, but it
MUST be a LOT!!
We stock the Red and Blue
thread lock.
(Actual threadlock supplied may differ from items
shown here)
|
Red
is the strongest and if applied correctly, it requires about 250+ degree heat to loosen. We have had success using
a hair dryer for this purpose when disassembling. A paint
stripping
heat gun could also be used,
BUT
great care must be exercised so you DO NOT DAMAGE paint
in the same area, as these guns can get to 900 degrees
and more. |
| Blue
is for frequently disassembled parts and only requires normal tools and a little extra pressure to loosen. Often
though oil and water can degrade the locking strength a little and that's why we also offer the Red
as it has a much stronger grip, but requires more effort to remove it when you need to. |

This pedal dress-up was originally built for the Honda VLX600
but SHOULD fit a myriad of motorcycles with a shifter as above.
Some notes on fitting this to OTHER THAN
a VLX600
1:The
rubber for the stock VLX600 is Honda part# 4781-KR3-770
Gearshift pedal rubber. If your bike uses that same
gear shift rubber, there is a very good chance our dress up might fit your bike. The ONLY issue would be the size of the flat secion of the lever itself.
2: The 2" length of the peg is the maximum length, as that's the depth of the hole drilled
in the dress-up. If the length of YOUR peg dimension as shown above is between 1-1/4" and 2" long, and
all other things are OK, then the Dress-up will fit.
3: We show the outside diameter at the end of the peg as 1/2" BUT we drill the Gearshift
dress-up to 33/64" which is 1/64" LARGER than 1/2".
If the end of your shift-peg is not perfectly round (they are forged so it is possible) you may need to remove
small amounts of metal in order for the Gearshift dress-up to go all the way over the peg. BE WARNED removing metal will ALSO remove chrome plating in that area and rust
MAY be a real issue in your climate. If you have to remove metal then perhaps a squeeze of Silicone sealant in
the hole before sliding it on might be a good idea to keep moisture at bay. Don't use too much in case you ever
want to get it off.
We make no guarantees that it will fit
shifter pegs OTHER THAN the VLX600, but it SHOULD fit any other peg that falls within the dimensions show above.
