When you add electrical items to your ride it is a very good idea to add a relay
to save the stock parts trying to bear an electrical load they were not designed for.
What is an even better idea is to add a fuse to prevent damage to the stock wiring for the very same reason.
Up until now, this had been a do-it-yourself issue for those not so skilled in electrical mysteries. Not any more.
We are now offering a DUAL fused system driven by a 30 Amp relay.
For some electrical
work we provide splices for joining
into existing wires on the bike. If you have never
used one of these splices then
please click
here to see how they are installed.
How easy is it to install?
Attach the fat Black wire to the battery terminal, the Yellow wire to
an ignition-switched line on the motorcycle, the Blue wire to a convenient Earthed or Grounded screw on the frame
and you are done.
You can now hook your lighting accessories to the fused outlets and they will come on with the ignition. The electrical
load will be borne by the Accessory Power Loom. The relay draws a piddling 0.15 mA so it does not exert any appreciable
load on the ignition system.
We provide everything you need, including 2 x 10 Amp mini-blade fuses and cable-ties for a neat installation.
YOU MAY NEED DIFFERENT FUSES SO IF IN DOUBT CHECK WITH
THE ACCESSORY MANUFACTURER FOR THE CORRECT FUSES.
What you need to be sure of is that the accessories you are
adding do not draw more current than your alternator can supply.
You would be well advised to add up all the loads that are ON during normal running, then add the load for the
accessories and fuse accordingly.

Mount this under a cover on the bike. While it is shower-proof
it may not work well if drenched in a torrential rain so under a cover or under the tank is a MUST.
Part# APL230
Two blade-style fuse holders and moisture-seal caps,
a 30 Amp automotive relay with M6 mounting bracket, two 10 Amp blade-type fuses, two insulated female spade terminals
for your accessory wires, a splice for the ignition wire and cables ties to make it neat. |

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE DECIDING ON THE APL230
There are two separate and independent fused circuits in
the APL230 and the complete unit is rated to handle a total of 30 Amps. This means you could have any accessories plugged in that totaled 30 Amps.
However, having said that, it is not a good idea to run anything at the maximum all the time so we strongly suggest a maximum of 20 Amp
continuous for the total
load on the APL230. It is for this reason we supply two 10
Amp fuses as that's what the load should be limited to.
This does not mean the load on any one of the fused circuits has to be 10 Amps, you could for instance have 15 Amps on one and
5 Amps on the other. Providing the total load for both circuits does not exceed 20 Amps continuous, you should be just fine.
You would need to calculate the load for each accessory you want to install, plus the load for normally running
the motorcycle, like headlights (if they are on all the time) and providing your alternator can supply this total
load then use the APL230. |

INSTALLATION NOTE!
Because our instruction sheets that come with the APL230
are printed in black and white the pictures may not be as clear as they could be so we have included some extra
color photos that may help with the installation of the APL230.

Good Vibrations...
|
|
These bikes vibrate really freely so a thread lock agent
is not a luxury, it should be mandatory every time you assemble things on any Motorcycle.
This bottle will last for a long time considering it only
takes a drop on the threads to make it stick. We can't tell you how many drops there are in the bottle, but it
MUST be a LOT!!
We stock the Red and Blue
thread lock.
(Actual threadlock supplied may differ from items
shown here)
|
Red
is the strongest and if applied correctly, it requires about 250+ degree heat to loosen. We have had success using
a hair dryer for this purpose when disassembling. A paint
stripping
heat gun could also be used,
BUT
great care must be exercised so you DO NOT DAMAGE paint
in the same area, as these guns can get to 900 degrees
and more. |
| Blue
is for frequently disassembled parts and only requires normal tools and a little extra pressure to loosen. Often
though oil and water can degrade the locking strength a little and that's why we also offer the Red
as it has a much stronger grip, but requires more effort to remove it when you need to. |
